No. 6 Blaine at No. 7 Elk River
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6
At Elk River Ice Arena

Despite a 6-4 victory over Blaine on Jan. 9, Elk River is still chasing the Bengals in the Northwest Suburban Conference standings entering the final two weeks of the regular season. A sweep of the rivalry would certainly tighten the race considerably. The first meeting was a wild, back-and-forth game. The teams exchanged leads four times before Elk River exploded with three third-period goals. Dylan Bouten (5-9-14) scored twice, and Chase Springman (14-14-28) tallied twice in the final frame for the Elks, while Tyler Cline (22-8-30) had two goals for Blaine that had given the Bengals a 4-2 lead in the second period. Elk River has lost its last two games, both since third-leading scorer Andrew Zerban departed for the USHL’s Fargo Force in late January.
