Cloquet-Esko-Carlton at No. 8 Duluth East
7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3
At Duluth Heritage Sports Center

The Lumberjacks may be reloading this winter, but any time these two Section 7AA rivals square off it tends to be a real barn-burner of a game. This is one of the top rivalry games in the state, the northeastern equivalent of Warroad versus Roseau or White Bear Lake versus Hill-Murray. Even though Cloquet-Esko-Carlton has had its struggles this season (just a 6-12-2 record), it played East tough back in the first meeting on Dec. 12, a 3-2 Greyhounds win. Cloquet goaltender Zack Strom made 25 saves as the ‘Jacks actually outshot East 33-28, but the Greyhounds got goals from Bryton Lutzka, Auston Crist and Nick Altmann.
