Hopkins at Wayzata
7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26

Wayzata would seem to be the obvious choice as the favorite against Hopkins, considering the Trojans' dominance during the last decade. Not this season. Wayzata is 1-3 and in danger of posting its first non-winning season since 2006, when the Trojans ended the year 5-5.

The Royals are not known for their football program but have come alive this season. Hopkins (3-2) could crack the Associated Press' Class 6A Top 10 rankings after defeating No. 9 Minnetonka 28-19 last Friday. Big plays on defense kept the Royals rolling against the Skippers. Hopkins' senior Mannie Kugmeh intercepted a Minnetonka pass in the fourth quarter to set up a 3-yard touchdown run from senior running back Harry Momoh and put Minnetonka away.
