Prior Lake at Eden Prairie
7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29

Saturday night’s game between No. 11-2A Prior Lake and No. 8-2A Eden Prairie could be a preview of a possible Class 2A state tournament semifinal. Or it could be that neither team makes it to the Xcel Energy Center in March.

Both play in one of the toughest sections in the state. Prior Lake is matched up in Section 2 with the Edina dynasty and annually strong programs such as Burnsville, Bloomington Jefferson and Holy Angels.

Eden Prairie is the defending champion in Section 6, which also includes Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Hopkins and Holy Family Catholic. That’s a gauntlet to run to get to the "X".

This is the second game in a tough season-opening schedule for both teams, as well. Prior Lake hosts Lakeville South on Tuesday and Eden Prairie visits Maple Grove that same night.

The Lakers hope to recover from a disappointing 11-win season last year and have a young and talented core.

The Eagles graduated Mr. Hockey finalists Steven Spinner and Luc Snuggerud but call up the most highly anticipated Bantam debut in years in Casey Mittlestadt, who has already given a verbal commitment to the University of Minnesota.
