Benilde-St. Margaret’s at Elk River/Zimmerman
7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29

Benilde-St. Margaret’s coach Ken Pauly is expecting a big jump in production from senior forwards such as Carter Roo, Chase Jungels and Mark Kaske, who each scored a dozen or more goals last year.

Add in 25-goal scorer Cade Gleekel, who transferred from Blake, and two-way defenseman Ben Newhouse and the No. 7-2A Red Knights should again be able to light the lamp.

Keep an eye on sophomore defenseman Connor Mayer, who played on the junior varsity last year but has already attracted the attention of Division I programs before playing a varsity game.

No. 5-2A Elk River has designs on ending Duluth East’s six-year run as champions in Section 7, and coach Gordie Roberts has the horses to do so.

Jake Jaremko has great speed and leadership ability, and the senior lit up the Upper Midwest High School Elite League in the offseason. Junior defenseman Matt Kierstad may be the best offensive defenseman in the section and has already verbally committed to the University of North Dakota.

The Elks will be deep with top Bantams such as sophomores Jensen Zerban and Jax Murray stepping up to varsity.
