Hill-Murray vs. St. Thomas Academy
Hockey Day Minnesota at St. Paul’s Holman Field
1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17

The feature game at the annual Hockey Day Minnesota celebration brings together two top-5 Class 2A powers, as No. 4 Hill-Murray (10-5-0) and No. 3 St. Thomas Academy (13-0-0) do battle on the tarmac at St. Paul’s Holman Field on Saturday afternoon. Here’s hoping for perfect Minnesota wintry weather, as these two programs need no gimmicks to make an exciting game.

The Pioneers feature one of the state’s best defensive corps, with Mr. Hockey candidate Jacob Olson (6-12-18), senior Davis Zarembinski (3-13-16) and freshman Mikey Anderson (3-4-7), who has already committed to Minnesota-Duluth.

They’ll be tested by St. Thomas Academy’s high-scoring squad, anchored by a top line of Christiano Versich (13-20-33), Peter Tufto (16-19-35) and Alec Broetzman (15-19-34), who have combined for 44 of the team’s 87 goals. It’s a true battle of defensive prowess versus offensive firepower.
