St. Cloud Cathedral vs. Delano/Rockford
3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24

Both No. 8-1A St. Cloud Cathedral (10-6-0) and No. 11-1A Delano/Rockford (13-3-0) can get to the state tournament this winter. But neither is the favorite in its respective section to this point. Cathedral trails unbeaten Alexandria in the race for Section 6 top seeding, and the Tigers must contend with Breck and others in Section 2. A signature victory over another top-11 opponent would be big for either.

Delano lost two of three at the Hilltopper Holiday Classic in Duluth in late December, but has won five straight games since, including a nice 6-3 victory over defending Class 1A, Section 2 champion Orono last Friday. Brady Miller (6-7-13) and Gabe Halonen (9-4-13) each had a pair of goals and Tyler Rizzardi (13-3-0, 2.33, .916) made 30 saves on 33 shots.

The Crusaders followed a six-game winning streak by dropping their last two games, but both were respectable losses against top teams Hermantown (5-2) and Breck (3-2). Junior Logan Neu (15-14-29) had his goal-scoring streak snapped against Breck. He had posted goals in five straight games, although he did get an assist to extend his points streak to eight consecutive games.
