Eden Prairie at Benilde-St. Margaret’s
7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3

No. 5-2A Eden Prairie (13-8-0) has the luck — or is that misfortune — of playing in both the toughest conference in the state (the Lake) and the deepest section in the state (Section 6). While the Eagles get to step outside the league Tuesday night, they do so against section rival No. 10-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s (12-7-2).

It’s a big seeding game, particularly for the Red Knights, who don’t play in a conference with the other section teams. Benilde-St. Margaret’s has already beaten the Eagles once this year, rallying for a 2-1 victory at the Eden Prairie Community Center on Dec. 12.

Nolan Sullivan (9-7-16) gave Eden Prairie a one-goal lead with 29 seconds left in the second period, but the Red Knights scored twice in the final 3:48 to win on goals from Nick Austin (1-3-4) and leading scorer Chase Jungels (13-19-32).

Overall in Section 6-2A games, Benilde-St. Margaret's is 2-1-1 with a loss to No. 9-2A Minnetonka and a win and tie against No. 15-2A Holy Family Catholic.

Eden Prairie has received much of its offense from the 1-2 punch of junior Michael Graham (20-21-41) and sophomore Casey Mittelstadt (18-22-40), who have combined for 38 of the team’s 81 goals (46.9 percent).
