Minnetonka at Wayzata
7:15 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7

Since opening the season with a 7-2-2 record, No. 8-2A Wayzata (10-9-2) has struggled for victories, going 3-7-0 in its last 10 games. No. 9-2A Minnetonka (11-9-1) has also been a true Jekyll-and-Hyde team since the turn of the year. The Skippers burst into the top-10 rankings with a six-game winning streak bookended by victories over No. 5-2A Eden Prairie, but they’ve lost four straight since then, scoring only seven goals.

Wayzata started the Skippers' skid with a 2-1 victory at Pagel Activity Center on Jan. 22. Max Zimmer (8-18-26) and Billy Duma (7-18-25) scored for the Trojans, while Alex Schilling (8-7-1, 2.53, .900) stopped 17 of 18 shots. Superstar freshman K’Andre Miller (4-2-6) scored Minnetonka’s only goal.

So which teams will show up Saturday night at the Plymouth Ice Center? Wayzata’s earlier victory gave the Trojans a one-game edge on both Minnetonka and Eden Prairie in the Lake Conference standings.
