Breck at Edina
6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28

For a team with just three seniors, Edina looks like a veteran squad with the way it has played thus far.

Having talented players such as sophomore forward Lolita Fidler (3-7-10), junior defender and Wisconsin commit Grace Bowlby, along with junior Sophie Slattery (2-3-5) and freshman CC Bowlby (1-1-2) makes being a young team easier.

The No. 3-2A Hornets (4-0) have adjusted since graduating Ms. Hockey winner Taylor Williamson and losing to Hill-Murray 2-1 in the Class 2A state tournament semifinals last year. Edina’s beaten No. 7-2A Maple Grove 4-1, No. 12-2A Roseau 4-1 and No. 5-1A Warroad 4-1 this season.

Despite getting four goals from Sydney Breza, Breck suffered its first loss of the season in a wild 7-6 game with Warroad on Nov. 20.

The No. 2-1A Mustangs (4-1) recorded consecutive one-goal victories against Centennial (3-2 in overtime on Nov. 14) and Forest Lake (2-1 on Nov. 17) before losing to the Warriors.

Breck bounced back for a 9-1 win at No. 12-2A Roseau on Nov. 21 behind three goals from Grace Zumwinkle and two each from Kendall Williamson and Anna Zumwinkle.

Edina defeated the Mustangs 5-2 in their first meeting last year and notched a 4-0 win in the second.
