Breck at Wayzata
7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10

An intriguing showdown between two of the west metro’s most talented and skilled squads, it could be debated which side is coming off a more impressive stretch of play this past weekend.

Wayzata flushed the frustrations from the holiday weekend with a 7-1 thrashing of Andover on Thursday. The No. 9-2A Trojans followed that with a shutout victory at No. 4-2A Hill-Murray.

Those wins will likely do a lot for Wayzata’s confidence, as it enters the second week of December with a 4-2 record.

Breck was more than impressive during back-to-back games against two very solid teams from the northland.

The No. 2-1A Mustangs destroyed No. 3-1A East Grand Forks 9-1 on Friday before recording a 4-1 victory over No. 11-1A Thief River Falls on Saturday.

Over the two games, Breck outshot its opponents 62-30 with Chase Ellingson, Mitch Machlitt, Grant Parrish and Tyler Scott each scoring at least once in both games. Ellingson leads the team with seven goals and five assists while Will Blake has two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
