Eden Prairie vs. Grand Rapids at Braemar Arena, Edina
6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18

This isn’t a historical rivalry, nor is it geographic or conference-based.

But when No. 1-2A Eden Prairie and No. 5-2A Grand Rapids meet Friday night in the Holiday Classic at Edina’s Braemar Arena, the game will feature two teams with a tremendous amount of skill in all areas.

The Thunderhawks enter the week with a 5-2-1 record and face the Eagles in a contest sandwiched between Edina on Friday night and Elk River on Saturday.

Senior forward Mitchell Mattson, a North Dakota commit, has a team-leading 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) this season. Junior forward Micah Miller and sophomore Gavin Hain lead the team with six goals apiece.

Eden Prairie comes into the Edina showcase looking to turn the page on a difficult overtime loss to Benilde-St. Margaret’s last Friday night.

Eagles junior captain Nolan Sullivan leads the team in scoring with six goals and junior forward Casey Mittelstadt has five, giving both 12 points.
