Eden Prairie at Edina
8:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19

Everybody pays attention when these teams play, and this meeting at the Edina Holiday Classic will be no different.

Eden Prairie (5-1) is coming off an emotional overtime loss to Benilde-St. Margaret’s last week and likely eager to get back at it. The No. 1-2A Eagles face No. 12-2A Elk River on Thursday and No. 5-2A Grand Rapids on Friday before taking on the No. 6-2A Hornets Saturday night.

After a big night against the No. 2-2A Red Knights in which he recorded a hat trick, junior captain Nolan Sullivan now leads the Eagles in scoring with six goals.

Edina (5-2) is coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to No. 4-2 Blaine. The Hornets are led in scoring by two seniors as Casey Dornbach and Ben Tucker each have five goals. The Hornets have the best power play statistically in Class 2A at 54.5 percent, having scored 11 goals with the man advantage.

The Hornets open their host tournament on Thursday against Grand Rapids, followed by a game with Elk River on Friday.
