Prior Lake at Burnsville
7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17

It’s been a frustrating half-decade for Prior Lake in its rivalry with Burnsville, especially when the postseason rolls around. Tthree times (2015, 2013 and 2012) the Blaze have ended the Lakers' year in the Class 2A, Section 2 tournament.

Historically, Burnsville has held the upper hand over Prior Lake in what has been referred to as the “Battle for Savage,” the city that separates the two towns and feeds both the school districts.

The No. 14-2A Lakers (4-1) are coming off a 5-0 victory at Eagan on Saturday night. After a season-opening loss to No. 1-2A Eden Prairie (6-3) on Nov. 28, the Lakers have been impressive in all areas of the game, never scoring less than five goals while never allowing more than one.

Prior Lake forward Connor Clemons has eight goals already this season and recorded a hat trick in back-to-back games against Lakeville South and Rosemount.

After beginning the season with consecutive losses to No. 11-2A Hill-Murray, No. 6-2A Edina and No. 2-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s, the Blaze have righted the ship a bit with victories in their last two games.

The Lakers hold a share of first place in the South Suburban Conference with Farmington, who also has a 3-0 mark in conference play. Burnsville (2-3-1) sits at 1-0-1 and could re-enter the race with a win Thursday.
