Holy Family Catholic at Delano
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5

In an early January battle for first place in the Wright County Conference, Holy Family Catholic travels to Delano on Tuesday.

The Fire (10-3-0) sit in the driver’s seat with a 3-0 mark, though the Tigers (8-4-0, 2-0) figure to make things competitive.

Holy Family Catholic is one of the state's hottest teams and enters the new year with a great deal of confidence after cleaning up at the Sports Authority Holiday Hockey Classic last week. The No. 4-2A Fire defeated No. 3-2A Stillwater 5-3, No. 8-2A Lakeville North (4-2) and wrapped up the tournament with a 5-2 victory over No. 9-2A Prior Lake.

Senior forward Will Garin, a Connecticut recruit, now has 14 goals and 27 points in 12 games and defenseman Matt Anderson, a Minnesota-Duluth commit, has 16 assists and 19 points for Holy Family Catholic.

Ethan Mesler has contributed nine goals and 18 points for the Fire and has has been especially effective on special teams, having already recorded three power-play goals and two shorthanded.

Delano remains ranked No. 6 in Class 1A after winning one of three at the Hilltopper Holiday Classic in Duluth. Junior captain Ben Meyers continues to produce offensively for the Tigers with 18 goals and 31 points in 12 games.
