East Grand Forks at Thief River Falls
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19

Mariucci Conference and Class 1A, Section 8 rivals East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls enter Tuesday night’s game at Ralph Englestad Arena with plenty of incentive to earn a victory.

The No. 8-ranked Prowlers (12-4-0), who are outscoring their opposition by an average of two goals per game (4.31-2.31), have won eight of their last nine games.

Junior forward Ethan Johnson is tied for the ninth-most goals in the state with 23 and has 34 points through 16 games.

East Grand Forks (11-5-1) is coming off a narrow 3-2 loss at No. 11-2A Bemidji last week, a defeat that broke a four-game winning streak in which the No. 10-1A Green Wave averaged nearly six goals per game.

Senior forward Tanner Tweten continues to lead the team in scoring with 10 goals and 23 points through 17 games.

Senior goaltender Jarod Reak (11-5-1, 2.25, .885) has been consistently good for the Green Wave, including posting back-to-back shutouts in victories over Warroad and Lake of the Woods last week.

This is the first of two regular-season meetings between these teams, with the second set for Feb. 9 in East Grand Forks.
