Minnetonka at Benilde-St. Margaret's
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26

Last month, Benilde-St. Margaret’s hosted Eden Prairie in a matchup of Class 2A's top two teams.

When the then-No. 2-ranked Red Knights triumphed in a thrilling 6-5 victory before a packed house at St. Louis Park Rec Center, Benilde-St. Margaret’s ascended to the No. 1 ranking they’ve held ever since.

The Red Knights face another very talented group from the Lake Conference in a surging Minnetonka team that's won six of seven in January, including victories over No. 3-2A Eden Prairie and No. 10-2A Edina sandwiched around a loss to No. 13-2A Wayzata.

Brendan Skarda leads the No. 2-2A Skippers (14-5-0) in scoring with 11 goals and 12 assists through 19 games. In net, senior goaltender Thomas Hanson has been solid all season, taking a .916 save percentage, 2.34 goals-against average and an 11-5 record into the week.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s continues to cut through its schedule, save for a close call on Tuesday at Farmington, where the Red Knights needed overtime to escape with a 2-1 victory.

Forwards Cade Gleekel (18-25-43), Auggie Moore (12-19-31) and Zach Risteau (12-18-30) have all eclipsed 30 points on the season as Benilde-St. Margaret's continues to flex its might offensively to the tune of five goals per game.
