St. Paul Academy at Breck
5:15 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28

A rivalry for half a century, dating back to the Catholic School, Prep School and Independent School State Tournaments of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, Breck hosts St. Paul Academy in what ought to provide another action-packed chapter.

Breck earned a 6-0 victory in the first meeting on Dec. 12. The No. 2-1A Mustangs (15-3-0) are averaging 6.17 goals per game, and their power play is operating at 48 percent efficiency.

Since struggling in last month's Schwan Cup, Breck has rattled off five wins in a row, a stretch in which it has averaged more than seven goals per game.

Senior forward Chase Ellingson leads the Mustangs with 18 goals and 45 points, followed by Mitch Machlitt (21-15-36), Tyler Scott (12-24-36) and Will Blake (16-19-35).

This is last remaining test on the schedule for the No. 10-1A Spartans (15-4-0), who could meet Breck for a third time if both reach the state tournament.

St. Paul Academy junior forwards Jack Johnston and Matt Dahlseide have combined the season for 69 points and 39 goals, including nine on the power play.
