Roseau at Warroad
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26

Roseau and Warroad is THE rivalry in northern Minnesota. The towns are separated by 22 miles along Highway 11, nearly parallel to the Canadian border, and have a combined population of less than 4,400. Yet, the programs have produced seven current NHL players and 24 others in Division I college or playing Major Junior hockey.

Junior forward Brandon Lund recorded a hat trick as the Rams (10-9-1) picked up a 6-3 victory over the Warriors in the first meeting on Jan. 7.

Since then, Roseau has been on a bit of a skid that includes costly defeats to No. 16-2A Moorhead, No. 19-2A Brainerd and No. 17-2A Duluth East.

Lund has 15 goals and 30 points while senior forward Logan Monsrud leads the team with 16 goals and 16 assists.

Warroad (8-13-0) is still struggling to generate offense consistently, as the Warriors have been shutout three times in January. Much of the scoring has been done by senior forward Max Oelkers, whose 15 goals account for more than a quarter of the team’s total (58).
