Holy Family Catholic at Stillwater
7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13

Stillwater gets the opportunity to face the only team it hasn't defeated during the regular season when Holy Family Catholic comes to town.

The No. 3-2A Ponies have been impressive in all aspects of the game, averaging 5.22 goals per game while allowing just 1.65. On special teams, Stillwater's power play shines to the tune of 31.4 percent efficiency, and its penalty-kill unit is 94.8 percent effective.

Brothers Noah (19-34-53) and Jackson Cates (19-31-50), along with Luke Manning (20-21-41) and TJ Saggisor (19-13-31), continue to put up big numbers as the Ponies roll two talented lines at the top.

In net, senior goaltender Josh Benson begins the season's final week with a .926 save percentage and a 1.73 goals-against average with a 17-1-1 record.

The Fire (17-4-0) are likely eager to put last Saturday’s 5-3 loss in an outdoor game at Grand Rapids behind them. Holy Family Catholic returns to action Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville and hosts St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday before the main event Saturday night.

The No. 2-2A Fire have some big wins this season over a collection of top-10 teams and are set to enter the postseason with perhaps their best chance to reach the state tournament since an ambitious decision to compete in Class 2A was made a few years ago.

The challenging part for Holy Family Catholic, however, is getting out of Class 2A, Section 2, which is home to top-5 teams Eden Prairie and Minnetonka.

The Fire are led offensively by senior forward, Mr. Hockey finalist and UConn recruit Will Garin (22-21-43) and junior blue liner Matt Anderson (7-22-29), a Minnesota-Duluth commit.
