St. Cloud vs. Alexandria
7:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8

For years, Alexandria's meeting with its rivals teams from St. Cloud, whether it be Apollo or Tech usually proved of great importance in the Central Lakes Conference race.

This season, the St. Cloud public school programs have consolidated into one team (no mascot) and moved up to Class 2A, Section 8. Despite the new uniforms, the hockey rivalry between these two communities separated by 70 miles of Interstate-94 should still burn hot.

The next chapter of St. Cloud hockey began loudly, with a 13-1 victory over Willmar on Dec. 1, the team’s only contest before traveling to No. 10-1A Alexandria.

The Cardinals (2-0) are expected to compete for the conference title, and their offense has been functioning at a high rate after one week, scoring 19 goals in wins over Little Falls and Sauk Rapids-Rice.
