St. Paul Johnson at Minnehaha Academy
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24

Minnehaha Academy (13-3, 1-2), is looking to bounce back after conference losses to St. Paul Academy and Breck last week dropped the Redhawks to third IMAC standings. Before the stumble, Minnehaha Academy had won nine straight games.

The Redhawks are scoring twice as many goals as they are allowing (4.00 to 2.00), thanks in part to one of the state's statistically best goalies, senior captain Justin Evenson. Evenson enters the week ranked second in the state with 13 wins, second in the state with a save percentage of .938, and a goals-against-average at 1.93.

St. Paul Johnson (11-3-2, 1-1-1) is having a remarkable season as other city programs are disappearing. The No. 14-1A Governers have an extremely proud tradition of 22 state tournament appearances and four state titles, though the last title came in 1963 and the last trip to state happened in 1995, well before the birth of any current player.

Like the Redhawks, Johnson is exactly two goals better than it is allowing (3.44 to 1.44). Special teams have also been strong for the Governors, who are killing 93 percent of its penalties and scoring on 32 percent of its chances with the man advantage.

Senior goaltender Ezra Weintzweig enters the week with a .935 save percentage and ranked fifth in the state in shutouts (five) and goals-against-average (1.52).
