Moorhead vs. Grand Rapids
2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11

Two giants of the northland share the same sheet of ice Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, with both Grand Rapids and Moorhead gathering strength for a February push towards the postseason.

Grand Rapids (16-4-1, 1-0) enters the week ranked No. 9-2A, and is almost certain to rise in the polling after winning its sixth straight game Saturday night, a 4-2 triumph at White Bear Lake.

With the regular season coming to a close, the Thunderhawks will use their final four regular season contests, including this game against a talented Moorhead squad, to build momentum and fine-tune their game going into the Class 2A, Section 7 playoffs.

Grand Rapids has three skaters averaging two points per game or better, led by Micah Miller (19-32-51), Blake McLaughlin (16-29-45) and Gavin Hain (19-23-42).

Moorhead (14-3-3, 4-1) appears to have a handle on the top seed in Class 2, Section 8 while also boasting an unbeaten streak that dates back to Dec. 30.

The Spuds have a healthy goals for (4.60) to against (1.70) ratio and two skaters with at least 20 goals on the season in juniors Carter Randklev (22-18-40) and Cole O’Connell (20-14-30).
