Benilde-St. Margaret's vs. St. Louis Park
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16

Benilde-St. Margaret's and St. Louis Park both call the St. Louis Park Rec Center home, and that's the setting for this Metro West Conference collision on Thursday. It also is the regular-season finale for the Orioles, who have not beaten the Red Knights in more than a decade.

St. Louis Park (17-6-1, 5-2-1) missed an opportunity to remain atop the Metro West Conference standings after losing to Bloomington Jefferson 2-1 on Saturday night. The Orioles, however, could still seize first place should they defeat Benilde-St. Margaret’s (5-16-1, 2-2-1) and the Jaguars fall in one of their two remaining games.

The Orioles are the fourth-highest scoring team in Class 2A at five goals per game and are led by senior forward Bauer Neudecker (38-34-72), who enters is the state's third-leading scorer.

St. Louis Park has one of the deepest teams in recent memory, with essentially two top lines of interchangeable parts. Luke Mobley (18-22-40) and Jon Sorenson (22-17-40) have been consistently productive, while fellow junior Willy Basil has 11 goals and 17 points in 13 games after missing the early part of the season due to injury.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s lacks the firepower and the depth from a year ago, when the Red Knights were Class 2A's top-ranked squad, and enter their annual matchup with their rinkmates on a three-game skid.

Nick Sims (5-12-17), Dylan Hoen (5-12-17) and Bronson McLeod (3-14-17) lead Benilde-St. Margaret's offense.
