Chaska vs. Apple Valley
7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29

None of Apple Valley's four opponents this season possess winning records, but the No. 4-5A Eagles face a true test this week when No. 8-5A Chaska comes to town for a non-league matchup.

Defense has helped both teams remain undefeated, with the Hawks and Eagles holding foes to fewer than 10 points allowed per game. And both will need strong performances from their defenses on Friday as they aim to keep winning streaks alive.

The Hawks (4-0, 2-0) have not reached the state tournament since 2013, but they are off to their best start since that season, when they won their first 11 games.

Dual-threat senior quarterback Connor Souba leads the offense with 604 passing yards, 263 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Apple Valley (4-0, 2-0) has a two-way threat in Kellan McKeag. The senior is fresh off a three-touchdown, two-interception outing against Park of Cottage Grove -- a game the Eagles won 42-21.
