Eastview vs.

Lakeville North

7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26

The battle for the South Suburban Conference title this season hasn't been much of a fight. It looks like every team will be clamoring for second place behind Eastview.

The undefeated No. 1-4A Lightning (15-0, 8-0) have been upending tough opponents all season, including No. 5-4A St. Michael-Albertville (60-43 on Dec. 2), No. 3-3A Northfield (60-52 on Dec. 28) and No. 3-4A Hopkins (66-56 on Dec. 29). Eastview's most narrow win this season was a 62-59 home decision over league foe Lakeville North on Dec. 12.

On Friday, the Lightning, who are led by senior Megan Walstad's 15.5 ppg, travel to Lakeville to face the No. 4-4A Panthers (12-4, 6-2) again. If there’s a loss on the Eastview schedule this season, it may come against Lakeville North, which may be looking for revenge.

A victory will also help the Panthers stay in the hunt to repeat as South Suburban champions. They swept the Lightning last season en route to the title and will look to even the series this season with a spark from either of their top scorers, Lauren Jensen or Analiese Tschida. The duo has combined to average 30.4 ppg this season.
