About the Greyhounds: The persistent Greyhounds fought all the way back to get a chance to atone for last year's 3-2 triple-overtime loss to Eden Prairie in the state final. Despite numerous road trips to play the top teams in the metro area and the most injury plagued season in coach Mike Randolph's 24 years at the helm, the Greyhounds are back as favorites. "It's a testament to how competitive our team is," senior defenseman Nate Repensky said. "Through the ups and down, injuries, whatever, if you come to one of our practices or watch us scrimmage, the things guys say to each other you'd think we were playing against an archrival. It's really a competitive environment. That's what helps fuel us in games."

About the Cougars: Lakeville South's appearance means fans will see future Gopher Justin Kloos. The smart and speedy forward has 39 goals and 99 points this season. He's joined by long-time friends and teammates Alex Harvey, a forward with 36 goals and 41 assists and defenseman Joe Freemark (13-30). The Cougars rolled through the Section 1 tournament, outscoring three opponents 33-1. But players know the stiffest test is yet to come. And they know their role as underdogs. "Our senior class has done a lot of pretty good things throughout youth hockey," Kloos said. "So we're pretty confident we can play with anyone. We're looking forward to the test of playing what most people think is the best team in the state."

Did you know? Lakeville South did not score a goal in two games in its 2008 state tournament debut.
