The Minnesota Elite Prep Development League's tryouts will be held for the Metro NE, Metro NW, Metro SW, Metro SE, West and South teams on Aug 3-5.
The Grand Rapids-based Northeast team will hold its tryouts on Aug. 4.
New to the league is Team Northwest based out of Crookston and coached by Mark Huglen. Tryouts for the Northwest team will be Aug. 4 in Moorhead.
The league will hold a preseason training weekend Aug 25-26 for all teams at the Eagan Civic Arena. The weekend schedule will consist of two practices per team, team meetings and a Sunday game to conclude the weekend.
League games begin the weekend after Labor Day and conclude with league playoffs October 26-28. The MNEPDL plans to again host an Invitational Tournament Nov. 2-4.
Last year’s event consisted on one league all-star team, Michigan, Massachusetts and Shattuck-St. Mary's Midget team.
MNEPDL again will operate as an affiliate to the Upper Midwest High School Elite League. Last year approximately 30 MNEPDL players were selected to participate in Elite League games.
Senior League to begin play in 2012
The Gopher State Senior League will now operate under the MNEPDL umbrella. Teams in this league will play one or two games per weekend during September and October.
This program will not be affiliated with the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League but some games will be played at the same location as MNEPDL games, giving players the chance to showcase their skills to junior and college representatives.
Bob Shier will be the Director of the MNEPDL Senior League.
