John Hamre named coach and general manager of Coulee Region Chill

John Hamre, who coached Blake to a 174-71-11 record and three trips to the state Class 1A tournament in nine seasons, has taken over as the head coach and general manager of the North American Hockey League's Coulee Region Chill.

Hamre, who also taught math at Blake, stepped down as the Bears coach before the 2011-12 season, taking what was announced at the time as a one-year sabbatical from his teaching and coaching duties as the school.

A Roseville native, Hamre, 43, spent last season as associate head coach with the NAHL's Michigan Warriors.
