Unbeaten Tigers rally past Chisago Lakes on overtime goal by Collin Buness

Junior Collin Buness scored on a give-and-go with linemate Daniel Voce 1 minute, 20 seconds into overtime to lift Princeton past Chisago Lakes 4-3 on Monday, Dec. 3, at Chisago Lakes Ice Arena in Lindstrom.

“The game-winning goal was the best feeling ever,” said Buness, who also had two assists, after Princeton improved to 3-0-0.

Chisago Lakes (3-2-0) held leads of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2, but the Tigers’ Dan Muench tied it with 7:55 left in the third to force the overtime period. It was Muench’s second goal of the game.

“We knew it would come down to who wanted it more, and by the end of the game we worked through it and were able to get the win,” Princeton coach Jeff Hanson said.

Four minutes into the third period Chisago Lakes freshman Blake Lizotte scored five-hole on Princeton junior goaltender Max Mattson to give the Wildcats their 3-2 lead.

Princeton answered with great puck movement on the power play, which led to Muench’s tying goal.

Mattson made 28 saves for the Tigers while Chisago Lakes' Jacob Dubose made 21 saves.
