Will Peterson

Eagan senior Will Peterson is adjusting from forward to defense in his final season with the Wildcats' boys hockey team.

The Wildcats split their first two games of the season, both one-goal games. Here is a closer look at Peterson:

The best movie I've seen in the past year? Probably "50/50" with Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

What three songs do you never skip on your iPod? "Mutt" by Blink 182, "Just What I Am" by Kid Cudi, and "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and The Shondells.

What are your three favorite apps? Twitter, Netflix, Shazam.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? Definitely my 'D' partner Nick Smallidge (@biggysmalls025) because every tweet is about "The Tourney."

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Fun, stubborn, leader.

How did you get started playing hockey? My dad played hockey his whole childhood and into college, so he wanted to get me started right away.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... very comfortable. All my teammates made me feel like I belonged.

What is your favorite meal before a game? A Philly cheesesteak from Dominick's, the local restaurant.

What did you work on in the offseason? I worked on my quickness and getting stronger.

What are your goals for the upcoming season? Not just get to the state tournament this year, but win it.

To get focused for a game, I ... usually try to stay calm and have conversations with my teammates.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? The first time I stepped on the ice at the Xcel Energy Center my sophomore year at the state tournament. There were so many people, and the lights were blinding they were so bright.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? I would say Burnsville because we are never able to beat them two times in one year.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I take a study hall during the hockey season, so I can do my homework.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? To have more games in a season.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team, and why? The Minnesota Vikings because Packers fans hate them.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? I really enjoy fishing local lakes for bass with co-captain Zach Glienke.

Do you have a secret talent - and if so, what is it? I'm a pretty good tennis player.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... employed at a job that I love.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? If you make a mistake, make it full-speed.
