The Polars have a new coach this year but a very familiar former player to the current Polar players. Sean Garrity joins the coaching staff ten years after graduating from North High. Players on the team remember seeing Coach Garrity play at Polar Arena when they were Mites. The current coaching staff were all either players or coaches during Sean's high school career.

Coach Garrity is behind the bench for the first time this season. He returns to his former high school with the plenty of hockey experience and a desire to work with and develop young people. As a Polar hockey player he played on one of the top scoring lines in the history of Minnesota high school hockey. He and his former linemates, Nate Dey and Ryan Petersen were inducted into the Polar Hockey Hall of Fame this past November. He was a three year letterman and received multiple All-Conference, All-Metro and All-State honors. He was a member of the 2003 Classic Suburban Conference Championship team and was a Mr. Hockey Finalist in that same year. Following High school Coach Garrity played a year of USHL Junior hockey. His collegiate career was played at St. Cloud State and Wisconsin Eau Claire. While at Eau Claire he was voted to All-WIAC First Team 3 years in a row. He also played professionally in the East Coast Hockey League.

Coach Garrity loves the game of hockey and his experience benefits the Polar Hockey program. His hockey background can only be matched by his desire to help his players develop into great young men.
