• EDEN PRAIRIE 4, GRAND RAPIDS 4: The Thunderhawks surprised almost everyone at Braemar Arena, scoring two power-play goals in the final minutes of the third period to send the game to overtime and emerge with a tie in the second round of the Edina Invitational.

Shaffer Holum scored at 12 minutes, 39 seconds to pull Grand Rapids to within one goal and Avery Peterson tied the score 1:12 later when he carried the puck wide, cut in front of the net and flipped the puck off Eden Prairie goalie Jake Gerdes. Grand Rapids, which lost to Edina 6-2 Thursday, converted on three of six power-play opportunities.

• EDINA 4, ELK RIVER 1: The Hornets led 2-0 after two periods on goals by Tyler Nanne and Cullen Munson, but Elk River cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Wyatt Ege at 3:25 of the third period. Edina, which outshot Elk River 30-16, sealed the victory with two goals in the final 1:10.

• BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 6, DULUTH MARSHALL 1: Playing perhaps their most complete game of the season, the defending Class 2A champion Red Knights leaned on a superstar and a fresh face to hand the Hilltoppers their second loss in three games. Senior forward Grant Besse notched his first hat trick of the season -- his fourth consecutive game with two or more goals -- and goalie Andrew Sprang, in his first season at Benilde after playing junior hockey last year -- turned aside 37 shots. Junior forward Spencer Naas chipped in with two goals and two assists, giving him a team-high 18 points through seven games.
