Jefferson, Edina, and Holy Angels win big; Burnsville and Chaska need to wait

Three of the top four seeded teams in the section 2AA won their quarterfinal round games Thursday night as the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars defeated Skakopee by a score of 12-0. They spread their offensive attack around as 10 different players scored in the win. Alex Nicholas and Carter Haaland each scored twice for the Jags. Joe Faust generated plenty of offensive punch from the blue line with 1g-4a-5pts. Richard Suel faced 63 shots in the Sabre net. Jefferson awaits the challenge of Burnsville or Chaska as they will play Friday night in Burnsville. Their game was cancelled due to the weather conditions. Edina 10 Prior Lake 1
Hornet senior wing Marshall Everson blew up for 7 points on the strength of 4g and 3a to propel the Hornets past Prior Lake in Section 2AA quarterfinal action. Anders Lee was just about as active as he notched a pair of goals and three assists in the win. Connor Gaarder had a goal and two assists in the effort as well. The Hornets had six players with two points or more on the game. They will have a huge challenge with the Holy Angels Stars at Bloomington Ice Garden Saturday afternoon at noon. Holy Angels 12 Kennedy 2
The Holy Angels Stars fired 60 shots on goal and were led by a pair of hat tricks in the win. Danny Mattson (3g-2a-5pts) and Connor Reilly (3g-2a-5pts) contributed half the Stars goals as Tyler Smith had a goal and two assists in the Stars impressive victory. Holy Angels had thirteen players register a point in their quarterfinal game. They face off with Edina on Saturday in the Section Semi-Finals yet again.
Woodbury 4 Rosemount 3
The Woodbury Royals nearly let a 4-1 lead slip away as they topped the Rosemount Irish in Section 3AA quarterfinal action. Tony Pittman had a couple of goals and Andrew Herbert had 3 assists in the game. After falling behind 3-0, the Irish mounted a comeback as Cory Peterson put them on the board at 5:45 of the third period. Pittman scored his second of the game at 10:08 of the third. The Irish received a pair of goals by Andrew Anderson and Brady Loew that made the final three plus minutes tense to say the least. The royals face off with Apple Valley who defeated Eastview 5-2 in their quarterfinal game.

The Apple Valley Eagles rode the crest of five different goals scorers to topple the Eastview Lightning by a score of 5-2 in Apple Valley Thursday night. Chris Fischer and AJ Michaelson each had a goal and two assists as the Eagles will travel to the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum at the State Fair for a Saturday Evening game at 6pm.
Wayzata 4 Armstrong 0
After a scoreless first period, the Wayzata Trojans wore down the Armstrong Falcons with three second period goals. Kevin Blackley, David Russ, and Lucas Whelan scored 1:56 apart in the final 2:28 of the second period. They were beginning to wonder if they could solve Trojan goalie Jeff Riman who very well could be the best kept secret in the net in the metro area. Whelan finished with three goals and goalie Ty Simcoe made 11 saves in the shutout. The Trojans face off with the Minnetonka Skippers for the third time this season at the Bloomington Ice Garden Saturday night at 7:30. The game can be viewed right here on MnHockeyHub.com

The Minnetonka Skippers scored four first period goals to cruise to their quarterfinal round win over the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks by a score of 10-0. Senior center Sam Coatta tallied the hat trick an added an assist while Jack Luke (1g-2a-3pts) and Eric Baskin (1g-2a-3pts) were key to the Skipper win. Nik Job recorded the shutout as his team outshot the Hawks 51-5. The Skippers take on Wayzata Saturday night at the Bloomington Ice Garden at 7:30 with the winner advancing to the Section 6AA finals.
Eden Prairie 10 Minneapolis East 3
The Eden Prairie Eagles had a hard time shaking Minneapolis East as they exchanged the game's frist four goals. Eden Prairie scored the next six goals to pull away and secure a semi-final affair with the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights Saturday at Braemar Arena. Kyle Rau (1g-3a) had four points while Taylor Wolfe scored two goals. The Ealges utilized 9 different goal scorers and had an astounding 15 players pick up a point.
