Vannelli on U.S. worlds roster

Former Minnetonka defenseman to play in Under-18 World Championship in Russia

Tommy Vannelli, a Minnetonka senior who has committed to play at the University of Minnesota, is on the roster for the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team that will compete in the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Under-18 Championship from April 18-28 in Sochi, Russia.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Vannelli is one of seven defensemen on the U.S. roster. He has played in 12 games for the Ann Arbor-based national team and has one goal and one assist.

Vannelli, a Mr. Hockey finalist, scored 10 goals and added 25 assists for the Skippers last season.
