Eden Prairie's Nick Leddy, Mr. Hockey and a state champ in 2009, adds Stanley Cup title to resume

Eden Prairie’s Nick Leddy, the smooth-skating defenseman who won the Mr. Hockey award in 2009 after leading the Eagles to their first state championship, added hockey’s ultimate prize – the Stanley Cup – to his resume on Monday after helping the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 to clinch the best-of-seven finals series 4-2.

Leddy, who was selected 16th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2009 NHL Draft, played the 2009-10 season for the Minnesota Gophers. He was traded to the Blackhawks in February of 2010.

Leddy played in 48 regular season games for Chicago, scoring six goals and adding 12 assists while posting a plus/minus rating of plus-15. He had two assists and was a minus-8 in 23 playoff games.

After scoring an empty net goal in the 2009 state semifinals, Leddy had a goal and an assist in Eden Prairie’s 3-0 victory over Moorhead in the 2009 state Class 2A title game.

Leddy was ranked 48th in the Hockey's Hub's 2011 list of Minnesota's 100 greatest high school players.
