It's official: Richards is new Wild coach

Todd Richards, the San Jose Sharks assistant coach who built his hockey resume as an Armstrong High School star and then in college with the Minnesota Gophers, was named today as the Minnesota Wild's second head coach.

Richards, 42, comes in 21 years the junior of the man he is succeeding, Jacques Lemaire. Richards was the frontrunner from the outset of general manager Chuck Fletcher's coaching search.
