Returning Class 2A champ Edina grabs the No. 1 spot

TOP 10 TEAMS:

METRO AREA

(All Class 2A teams unless noted.)

1. Edina

The defending Class 2A state champions must retool their lineup. But the Hornets always have budding stars eager to make their mark.

2. Wayzata

A state tournament run added experience to a talented returning corps.

3. Blaine

Fast, deep and determined after tough section tournament losses past two seasons.

4. Hill-Murray

High-caliber forwards are in place for two-time Class 2A runner-up. Defense and goaltending must develop.

5. Eden Prairie

Talented team can win with skill or physical play. Avoiding another slow start is paramount.

6. Benilde- St. Margaret’s

Goaltending a major concern for an otherwise skilled team.

7. St. Thomas Academy

Great forwards will await the development of a young defensive corps and goaltending. Cadets opted up to Class 2A this season.

8. Elk River

Strong goaltending will supplement solid group of veterans.

9. Burnsville

Lost two top-end players but strong up front.

10. Breck (1A)

Stout defense and goaltending. Young forwards must emerge as go-to scorers.
