Jan. 6: Edina at Hill-Murray tilt highlights the top games of the week

Whenever Edina and Hill-Murray get together, there’s usually a title at stake. The previous two meetings between the superpowers have resulted in the hoisting of a trophy.

Last January, the Pioneers beat Edina to earn the state’s No. 1 ranking and role as the state tournament favorite. The Hornets responded by winning their record 11th title in Class 2A championship game over Hill-Murray in mid-March. Last month, the programs reengaged in the Schwan Cup Gold Division final, with Edina again victorious.

Nothing more than bragging rights are on the line Saturday in Aldrich Arena, but that should be enough to make it our top game in the Top 10 Games of the Week for Jan. 6-12, 2014.
