Raiders gain big edge in Suburban East race with dominating win at TCF Bank

Cretin-Derham Hall scored all three of its goals on the power play as it cruised past Suburban East rival White Bear Lake 3-1 Saturday night at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Nick Reis was a cog in the Raiders' power play all night. Reis scored off a rebound sent from Joe Dekker only 12 seconds after Peter Wachtler was called for tripping in the first period. Reis moved the puck up to Derek Olmschenk who scored top shelf over Chase Gorman to close the period.

Cretin-Derham Hall's Chad Fleischman was called for checking from behind, giving the Bears five minutes on the power play. The Raiders killed the penalty and Alex Bailey stood strong not allowing a puck past him.

Halfway through the third period, Joe Dekker gave Cole Gnetz a soft pass and Gnetz fired a wrist shot over the right leg pad of Gorman.

Jake Wahlin, the No. 2 goal-scorer in the state, was held scoreless for 50 minutes until Tom Giller sent a pass across the slot to Wahlin who was knocking back door. Bailey lunged towards Wahlin and almost made the glove save, but Wahlin got his goal foiling Bailey's shutout.

Cretin remains undefeated in Suburban East play, handing White Bear Lake their first conference loss. Both teams will face each other again in the last game of the season in what could determine the conference title.
