What to watch for in Class 2A

TOURNAMENT TIDBITS

1. Upsets aplenty: Five Class 2A teams held the No. 1 ranking in the Let’s Play Hockey coaches poll this season. But only two reached St. Paul: defending champion Edina and Lakeville North. They earned the top two seeds.

2. No future Gophers: Fans can marvel at 12 Division I college-bound players this week (11 of them in Class 2A), but none of them are future Gophers. St. Cloud State will get Lakeville North’s Poehling brothers, while Duluth East’s Philip Beaulieu and Eden Prairie duo Steven Spinner and Luc Snuggerud have committed to coach Dean Blais and Nebraska-Omaha.

3. Follow the action: Adult tickets are $17 for championship and $12 for consolation sessions. Student tickets are $11 for championship, $8 for consolation. All championship-round games will be televised on Ch. 45 and streamed live at Prep45.com for a charge of $4.97 per day. The Class 2A quarterfinals and all semifinals and championship game can be heard on 105.7-FM and on 106.1-FM.
