Many of the hot topics regarding player development in 1976 remain pertinent today

This Sports Illustrated article, circa 1976, discusses the hot Minnesota hockey topics of day.

Among the issues explored by author Jim Kaplan back then: more time on outdoor rinks, smaller playing surfaces for youth players, a lighter puck for the kids and making sure youngsters know how to skate before they are taught how to play hockey.

Does any of this sound familiar?

There are also some classic Herb Brooks quotes in the piece that remain pertinent today.
