Here is a closer look at Masica

A year ago, the Warriors made their first state tournament appearance since 1980. The guard/middle linebacker would like to make it to the Class 5A quarterfinals in back-to-back years. Here is a closer look at Masica:

Q: The best movie I’ve seen in the past year?

A: “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.”

Q: Three words friends or teammates might use to describe me?

A: Fun, determined and tenacious.

Q: At my first varsity practice, I felt …

A: … scared, yet very excited.

Q: What did you work on most in the offseason?

A: Becoming a faster, stronger, smarter player. I also worked with younger kids to get them used to Henry Sibley football.

Q: What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A: Beating St. Thomas Academy 38-14 in the Section 5 finals last football season, and making it to the state tournament.

Q: What are your goals for the remainder of the football season?

A: Do the very best I can, be a good teammate, and compete at a high level.

Q: How do you balance school and sports during the year?

A: It’s hard, especially with hard classes, but sometimes you have to be willing to give up sleep to succeed.

Q: Name one sport that you wish you could play, and why?

A: Rugby, football without pads. How does that not sound awesome?

Q: What is the best sports advice you ever received?

A: Being perfect is about looking your teammates in the eyes, and being able to tell them you did all that you could. That there wasn’t one thing more you could’ve done.
