The Faribault High School boys hockey team scored two short-handed goals as the Falcons topped Rogers 5-2 on Saturday at the Faribault Ice Arena. Sean Lipinski had one of the two short-handed goals, and added the eventual game-winner in the second period.

With the game tied in the second and Rogers on the power play, Bo Putrah led a 2-on-1 rush and dished off to Lipinski, who put it past Royals goalie Mark Schoephoerster for a 2-1 Falcons lead. Less than a minute later, Lipinski scored again to push the lead to 3-1.

“Sean Lipinski had a great game,” coach Brad Ryan said. “He’s kind of been the spark plug for us the last three games.”

Rogers came as close as 4-2, but Dan Mahoney’s goal in the third period put the game away. Wyatt Andreas made 22 saves for FHS (15-6).
