The Hornets can remain atop the league standings by holding off a Trojans team that proved pesky in a meeting earlier this season.

Arguably the premier league in the state, the Lake Conference features four of the top-9 ranked Class 2A teams in the most recent Let’s Play Hockey coaches poll dated Jan. 28, 2015 — No. 2 Edina, No. 5 Eden Prairie, No. 8 Wayzata and No. 9 Minnetonka. That’s in just a five-team circuit that also includes Hopkins, which is capable of beating any team on any night, anchored by top goaltender Josh Kuehmichel.

So when the Lake slate makes its second go-around starting this week, it’s time to take notice. We’ve tabbed three Lake Conference games among the top games of the coming week and another two that feature at least one team from the conference. Every Lake team is represented at least once.

But the one that catches our eye as our Game of the Week is the battle for first place between Edina, which is 4-0-0 in conference, and Wayzata, which is 3-2-0.
