Nine Minnesotans invited to national junior camp

Alt, Bjugstad, Gothberg, Nelson among those auditioning for roster spots

Four players who completed their high school careers last season are among the nine Minnesotans invited to USA Hockey's national junior evaluation camp this summer in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Mark Alt (Cretin-Derham Hall), Nick Bjugstad (Blaine), Zane Gothberg (Thief River Falls) and Brock Nelson (Warroad) graduated this spring and will be among some of the youngest of the 44 players auditioning for spots on the U.S. team that will defend its World Championships title on Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Buffalo, N.Y.

Justin Faulk (South St. Paul), Derek Forbort (Duluth East), Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie), Zach Budish (Edina) and Tyler Pitlick (Centennial) are the other Minnesotans invited to the July 30-Aug. 7 tryout.

Nine of the invitees are returnees from the 2010 gold-medal team coached by International Falls native Dean Blais.
