Scotty Bowman, a senior adviser to the Chicago Blackhawks, compared recently signed Nick Leddy, a former Eden Prairie standout, to another Minnesota high school phenom in Phil Housley.
Housley, a defenseman who made the jump directly from South St. Paul to the NHL, scored 31 goals and 46 assists in his second season with the Buffalo Sabres.
Bowman, who was the coach of the Sabres in the 1980s, says Leddy, also a defenseman and Minnesota's Mr. Hockey in 2009, has many of the same characteristics as Housley.
