Red Knights get four goals from second line in road win.

Peter Moran scored twice and added an assist in his varsity debut.

ALBERTVILLE, Minn. -- Peter Moran and Nick Sims each scored twice and linemate Jacob Holmers assisted on two goals to lead Benilde-St. Margaret's to a season-opening, 6-1 win at St. Michael-Albertville.

Both of Moran's goals game on the power play. The first coming five minutes, 52 seconds into the game as he tipped a shot by Jared Gherardi, who had three assists on the night, underneath the pads of Knight goalie Kyle Hayden.

The Red Knights were kept off the scoreboard until 9:18 had elapsed in the second period. Sims won a faceoff in right circle of the SMA zone to Holmers, who carried the puck to the middle of the ice before passing the puck back to Sims skating across the crease and he banged BSM's second goal.

Last season's goal-scoring leader, Zach Risteau, got on the scoresheet just over three minutes later when Auggie Moore won a battle for the puck in the left corner, which came out to Risteau, who worked a give-and-go with Jerry Calengor.

After Mitchell Bourgerie scored early in the third period for the hosts, breaking up Ryan Bischel's shutout bid, Moran scored his second goal of the game with 9:52 to play in the game.

BSM's next two games came in rapid succession as Moore scored with 7:47 to play in the game and Sims collected his second goal of the game 47 seconds later.

BSM held a 33-24 advantage in shots on goal for the game as Bischel turned aside 23 shots to earn the victory.

The Red Knights will head north for a pair of post-Thanksgiving games this weekend.

Friday, BSM is at the Marshall School in Duluth for a 5:10 p.m. game at Mars Lakeview Arena before trekking west, Saturday, for a 6 p.m. game at the IRA Civic Center versus Grand Rapids.
