Risteau scores key goals in Red Knight victory.

Auggie Moore's rebound goal proved to be the game winner.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Zach Risteau scored twice, giving Benilde-St. Margaret's a pair of one-goal leads, and Auggie Moore's goal with five minutes, 18 seconds remaining in the game proved to be the difference as the Red Knights down 11th-ranked Elk River, 3-2, in the Sports Authority Holiday Classic.

Risteau's first-period goal, coming just 2:30 into the game, was a key goal as it was BSM's lone shot on goal in the opening stanza, as he took a drop pass from Jerry Calengor in the top of the right faceoff circle and beat Elks goalie Ben Meyers to the far side past his blocker.

Elk River converted the game's first power-play chance less than three minutes later when Jensen Zerban knotted the score, which would remain that way for nearly 38 minutes.

Risteau finally broke the tie with 7:44 remaining in the game as Nick Austin's shot from the right point was stopped by Meyers, as was Cade Gleekel's rebound attempt. However, the second rebound came out to Risteau on the right side of the goal crease and he banged home his eighth goal of the season.

Barely two minutes later, Moore would get the game winner as Gleekel forced a turnover behind the Elks' goal and passed the puck out to Moore, who scored from the low slot.

With 2:45 to play, Al Schwab got Elk River back to within one goal but the Red Knights were able to hold on the rest of the way.

The Elks had a 31-21 advantage in shots on goal, including 10-1 in the opening period. Ryan Bischel turned in a 29-save performace to earn his state-leading 11th win of the season.

BSM wraps up the 2015 portion of its schedule when it plays its third and final game of the Sports Authority Holiday Classic tomorrow, beginning at 5 p.m., versus Maple Grove.
