Pauly earns 400th BSM victory in OT thriller.

FARMINGTON, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's needed nearly 48 minutes before getting on the scoreboard and came within 23.2 seconds of playing to tie before Cade Gleekel provided the top-ranked Red Knights with the winning goal in a 2-1 victory at 16th-ranked Farmington.

With the victory, BSM head coach recorded his 400th career victory, the most of any Red Knight coach in any sport.

The victory, however, did not come easily.

Farmington's physical play, work ethic and the goaltending efforts of Gavin Enright kept the game scoreless, well into the third period, before the Tigers took a 1-0 leadwith seven minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the final frame.

The Tigers cleared their own zone and moved the puck into the Red Knights' zone, where Andy Meyer took advantage of a turnover by stealing a mishandled puck and slipping it past BSM goalie Ryan Bischel.

The Red Knights, who have found themselves down a goal late on several occasions this season, remained calm and would tie the score less than four minutes later.

A Jacob Holmers pass sent Shota Yokosuka up the right side and deep into the Farmington zone. As the Tigers' defense moved to Yokosuka's side, he threaded a center pass into the slot where Peter Heimbold came in on a secondary rush and fired home the pass to tie the score.

Heimbold's second goal of the season sent the game into overtime, where the team's nearly played another eight minutes of scoreless hockey before Auggie Moore knocked down a Farmington pass in his own zone and quickly transitioned the puck the other way.

When he hit the Tigers' blueline, he cut to the right side before leaving a drop pass in the middle for Gleekel, who proceed to fire a low shot off the left post, which richocheted behind Enright and into the goal for BSM's fourth overtime win of the season.

The win enabled BSM to remain unbeaten at 16-0-1 on the season while giving Pauly his 400th win in 600 games as the Red Knights' head coach.

In his 23rd season as the Red Knights' bench boss, he has amassed a 400-178-22, for a winning percentage of .685. In 26 seasons as a head coach, he is now 444-209-29 (.672).

Pauly will lead his charges back into action, Saturday, when they return to Metro West Conference play by taking on Bloomington Jefferson in a 3 p.m. matinee at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
